Vornado is recalling SRTH Small Room Tower Heaters because a fan blade can detach and cause the heater to overheat, melt and pose a fire hazard. Owners should stop using the recalled heater immediately, unplug it and contact Vornado for a refund.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission posted the recall June 4. The agency said about 255,000 heaters are included in the recall in the United States, with about eight additional units sold in Canada.
The recall covers Vornado SRTH Small Room Tower Heaters sold in black and white. The heaters are about 12.5 inches high and 6 inches in diameter, with low and high heat settings and a fan-only setting.
Owners can check the silver rating label on the bottom of the heater. Recalled units have “TYPE SRTH” printed on that label.
Vornado’s recall FAQ says all SRTH production date codes are included. The company said the heaters were manufactured between June 2013 and August 2022 and that it stopped producing SRTH heaters in 2022.
The heaters were sold at stores nationwide, including Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond and ACE Hardware, and online through Vornado.com and Amazon.com from August 2013 through May 2026 for about $40 to $50, according to the CPSC.
Health Canada’s companion recall notice listed the recalled products as:
The problem involves the heater’s fan blade. The CPSC said the blade can detach from the motor shaft, which can slow or stop the fan.
If that happens, the heater can overheat and melt parts of the enclosure and internal components. Melted internal parts can ignite and breach the heater’s enclosure if the thermal cutoff or fuse does not activate in time, creating a fire hazard.
Vornado gives the same explanation on its recall page and tells owners not to keep using the heater even if it appears to be working normally.
Vornado has received 32 reports of overheating from fan displacement, according to the CPSC. Those reports included eight fires and one report of smoke inhalation.
The CPSC notice did not report any deaths linked to this SRTH recall.
Owners should turn off the heater, unplug it and stop using it. Vornado says recalled heaters should not be returned to the store where they were purchased.
To participate in the recall, owners can register through Vornado’s recall site or call Vornado toll-free at 844-205-7978 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday.
Vornado says owners will need to confirm the product, complete the recall registration and follow instructions for disabling the heater. The company says refunds are issued after registration is validated.

Several POM power bank lines sold in TK Maxx and Homesense stores are being recalled over a fire risk linked to internal wiring. Owners should stop using affected models immediately and return them for a refund or replacement.

Wyze Solar Cam Pan security cameras are under recall because the wrong screw can puncture the lithium-ion battery and create a fire or burn hazard. Owners should check model WYZESCPWH and use Wyze’s recall process for a refund, replacement or gift card.

The standard refund is $49.99. Vornado’s FAQ says consumers with valid proof of purchase showing a higher amount paid can contact the recall team for a full refund of the purchase amount. The company says refund checks are expected within about three to four weeks after registration is validated.
This is not the same as Vornado’s March 2023 SRTH recall.
The earlier recall covered only SRTH heaters with a “JUL22” date code because of a miswiring issue. The new recall covers all SRTH heaters, regardless of date code, because of the fan blade hazard.
Owners who checked a heater during the earlier recall should check again. Vornado says all SRTH small room tower heaters are now included.
Owners should follow Vornado’s current recall instructions and keep any purchase records if they are seeking a refund above the standard amount.
This article should be updated if the CPSC or Vornado changes the affected product list, refund process, incident totals or consumer instructions.
