Wyze and federal safety officials are recalling certain Wyze Solar Cam Pan security cameras because the wrong installation screw can puncture the battery and create a fire or burn hazard. Owners should stop using the camera until they confirm whether their device and installation are covered by the recall.
The recall involves wire-free Wyze Solar Cam Pan outdoor security cameras, model WYZESCPWH. The model number is printed on the back of the camera.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said about 321,360 cameras are included in the United States, with about 2,560 more sold in Canada. The cameras are white, lithium-ion battery-operated and have motorized pan-and-tilt functionality with an integrated solar panel.
Wyze says the voluntary recall applies to Solar Cam Pan cameras purchased on or before April 3, 2026. The CPSC notice says the cameras were sold from October 2025 through April 2026 for about $80 at Home Depot and Micro Center and online through Wyze, Temu, Amazon, B2B Renew, Inc., ReturnPro and Best Buy.
The recall is for the Solar Cam Pan model, not every Wyze camera.
The problem involves two different screw types included for installation. Wyze says the short pan-head machine screws are meant to attach the solar panel bracket to the top of the camera. The long flat-head wood screws are intended only for mounting the unit to a wall or another surface.
If the long flat-head screws are used on top of the camera, they can puncture the internal lithium-ion battery’s metal casing. CPSC said that can cause the battery to rapidly overheat, creating a risk of fire, burns and property damage.
CPSC said Wyze has received 13 reports of the cameras overheating. Those reports include six cases in which cameras exploded and caught fire, along with six reports of consumers suffering minor burns.
The recall notice did not list any additional affected Wyze camera models.
Owners should use Wyze’s recall process to determine whether their Solar Cam Pan is affected. CPSC says all consumers who used the long flat-head screw to install the solar panel on top of the camera should participate in the recall.
Wyze says no action is needed if the solar panel was installed separately from the camera or if the correct short pan-head machine screws were used to attach the solar panel to the camera. Owners who are unsure should follow Wyze’s step-by-step screw-identification guide.
If the camera must be dismantled to check the screws, Wyze says owners may need special firmware to deplete the battery and should wait 48 hours after the battery is depleted before taking the camera apart. If the camera is offline or disconnected and the screw type is unknown, Wyze says owners should contact support before removing or disassembling it.

Several POM power bank lines sold in TK Maxx and Homesense stores are being recalled over a fire risk linked to internal wiring. Owners should stop using affected models immediately and return them for a refund or replacement.

Haleon recalled four lots of Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels 125 mg after possible coolant contamination during packaging. Consumers should check UPCs and lot numbers TL8K, YH9X, YH9Y and X78N and stop using affected packages.


Wyze is offering affected consumers a free replacement camera with a solar panel accessory, a full refund or a gift card for the original purchase price to use on Wyze’s website.
Wyze says consumers who bought the camera through the Wyze website can receive a refund to the original payment method. Consumers who bought the camera through a retailer can be reimbursed by check. A gift card is available as another option.
Wyze’s FAQ says consumers can still participate in the recall if they do not have a purchase receipt.
CPSC says consumers who participate in the recall must attest that they disposed of the recalled camera. Because the product contains a lithium-ion battery, the agency says it should not be placed in household trash, curbside recycling bins or standard used-battery recycling boxes.
Owners should dispose of the recalled camera according to local and state regulations. CPSC advises consumers to contact their municipal household hazardous waste collection center before taking the camera there, because not every facility accepts recalled lithium-ion batteries.

Before contacting support, owners may want to have the device MAC address from the Wyze app, the camera’s online or offline status, where the solar panel was mounted, which screws were used and any available installation photos. Wyze says professional removal may be available in some situations.
