Dunelm has recalled five Seasonal Doorstops because the sand inside may contain asbestos. Customers should stop using affected products, check the barcode and care label, and return them to Dunelm for a refund or seek local disposal advice.

Dunelm has recalled five Seasonal Doorstops after a product safety notice said the sand inside may contain asbestos. Customers should stop using affected items immediately, keep them away from children and check the barcode and sewn-in care label.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards notice, published on 11 June 2026, says the products have been withdrawn from the market and recalled from end users by Dunelm. The retailer’s own recall page gives the same customer action and says the products were sold online and in stores between November 2024 and February 2026.
The recall covers these Dunelm Seasonal Doorstops.
OPSS says products from November 2024 onwards are affected. Customers are asked to check the sewn-in product care label for the batch code, which is shown in MMYYYY format, and to check the barcode number.
The safety issue concerns the sand sealed inside the doorstops. OPSS says the sand may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos.
Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a health risk even at low levels of exposure. The OPSS notice also says the products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
The recall does not mean every individual doorstop has visible damage or exposed sand. Customers should not open or handle the filling to check it.
Dunelm and OPSS say customers should stop using the recalled doorstops immediately.
If the product is undamaged, place it in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double-tape it securely, label it clearly and store it somewhere secure, out of the reach of children.
If the product is damaged and sand is accessible, clean the area using wet cloths to avoid generating dust. OPSS says people should wear gloves and a mask, then double-bag the sand, gloves, mask and cloths.
Children and other people should be kept away from any area where sand has been used or spilt until it has been cleaned.
Dunelm says customers should double-bag the product, seal it securely with tape and return it to a local store for a refund. The retailer says it will take care of disposing of returned products safely.
