Apple’s iOS 27 compatibility list includes iPhone 11 and newer, plus iPhone SE (2nd generation and later). Apple Intelligence and Siri AI require newer hardware, so not every iPhone that installs iOS 27 will get every AI feature.

Apple’s official iOS 27 compatibility list includes iPhone 11 and newer, plus iPhone SE (2nd generation and later). The update is listed as coming this fall, but Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features are limited to newer iPhones, so iOS 27 support does not mean every feature will work on every device.
Apple’s iOS 27 page also says Siri AI is coming in English later this year. For shoppers and current iPhone owners, the main distinction is simple: many iPhones can run iOS 27, but only Apple Intelligence-enabled models get the new AI assistant features.
Apple’s current iOS 27 page lists the following iPhones as compatible:
That means the oldest numbered iPhone family on Apple’s list is the iPhone 11 line. The iPhone SE is handled separately because Apple lists it by generation rather than by year.
Apple’s iOS 27 compatibility list does not include iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, the iPhone 8 line or the first-generation iPhone SE.
Owners of those models should not assume they will receive iOS 27 unless Apple changes its compatibility page. For older iPhones, the more realistic expectation is continued use on the latest iOS version already available for that device, along with any security updates Apple may separately provide.
The AI feature list is narrower than the iOS 27 installation list.
On iPhone, Apple says Apple Intelligence and Siri AI in iOS 27 are available on all iPhone 16 models and later, plus iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. That means iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 14 models, iPhone 13 models, iPhone 12 models, iPhone 11 models and older supported iPhone SE models may be able to install iOS 27, but Apple does not list them as Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhones.
Apple also says Siri AI requires a supported device set to a supported language and will start in English later this year. Some Apple Intelligence features may vary by language or region.

There is another layer to the device question. Apple says its most powerful on-device model, including features such as expressive voices and more advanced dictation, is available on iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
That is not the same as the general iOS 27 support list. It is also narrower than the broader Apple Intelligence iPhone list.
For buyers comparing phones, this matters. A supported iPhone can mean one of three things: it can install iOS 27, it can run Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, or it can run the most advanced on-device Siri AI features Apple has singled out for newer hardware.
Apple Support says iPhone owners can check model information in Settings. Open Settings, tap General, then tap About. The About screen shows the model name, iOS version, serial number and model details.
That is the safest way to check if you are unsure whether you have, for example, an iPhone SE (2nd generation) or an older iPhone SE. The iOS 27 cutoff depends on the exact model, not just the name printed in a listing or receipt.
Apple lists iOS 27 as coming this fall, and its checked public pages did not give a specific final release date. The compatibility list and AI feature requirements should be treated as Apple’s current official guidance.
Before installing a beta, buying a used iPhone for iOS 27 or upgrading mainly for Siri AI, check the model name and compare it with Apple’s current compatibility page. This guide should be refreshed if Apple changes the device list, gives a final release date or updates Apple Intelligence language and device requirements.
