FCA US is recalling more than 1 million 2021-2025 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles over a fire risk tied to power-steering pump wiring. NHTSA says affected owners should park outside and away from buildings and other vehicles until repairs are made.

FCA US, the Stellantis unit that sells Jeep vehicles in the U.S., is recalling more than 1 million Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says affected owners should park them outside and away from buildings and other vehicles until repairs are made. The warning applies to certain 2021-2025 model-year vehicles, so owners should verify their vehicle identification number, or VIN, instead of relying only on model year.
NHTSA says the fire risk can exist even when the vehicle is turned off. The recall is listed by NHTSA as campaign 26V363 and by FCA US as recall 21D.
FCA US says the recall covers Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles with gas, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains. It is separate from earlier Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe high-voltage battery recalls.
The recall involves the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring. FCA’s recall report says some vehicles may have an electrical connection that is susceptible to high resistance, which can overheat combustible materials in or near the vehicle.
NHTSA says the issue can lead to a fire even while the vehicle is parked with the ignition off. The agency said it is aware of 51 fires and one injury likely related to the issue.
Some owners may notice a loss of power steering assist or a “Service Power Steering” diagnostic warning. The absence of a warning does not rule out an open recall, so the safest step is still a VIN or license-plate check.
Owners of potentially affected Wranglers and Gladiators should park outside and away from structures or other vehicles until the recall repair is completed, NHTSA says. FCA’s public FAQ says customers can continue driving their vehicles, but the parking precaution remains in place until the remedy is obtained.
Do not wait for a mailed notice if you are concerned your vehicle may be included. Check the recall status, save your VIN, and contact an authorized Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram dealer when service becomes available. Recall repairs are performed at no cost to owners.
Owners can also call FCA US customer service at 800-853-1403. NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline is 888-327-4236.
NHTSA says affected VINs and license plates for this recall were scheduled to be searchable beginning June 11. Owners can use NHTSA’s recall lookup by entering either a license plate and state or the 17-character VIN.

NHTSA says Waymo is recalling 3,871 fifth-generation automated driving systems because the software may let autonomous vehicles enter closed freeway construction zones and keep driving at speed. Waymo has restricted freeway driving while a software remedy is under development.

The VIN is usually visible at the lower left of the windshield on the driver’s side. It can also be found on the driver-side doorjamb label, vehicle registration or insurance documents.
Mopar’s official recall page also lets owners check current recalls by VIN or by signing in to an owner account. A dealer can also confirm whether a specific vehicle is included.
NHTSA’s recall acknowledgment says owner notification letters were expected to be mailed July 9, 2026. FCA’s Part 573 schedule lists a planned remedy owner-notification period from July 9 through Aug. 3.
The repair program calls for dealers to inspect and repair or replace affected parts as needed. FCA’s FAQ says the company expects a solution no later than July and is working to accelerate remedy availability.
Until the remedy is completed, the park-outside instruction remains the key safety step for affected owners.
Recall details can change as FCA US files additional documents with NHTSA and as owner letters are posted. The most useful updates to watch for are a final owner letter, dealer instructions, parts availability and any change in the remedy description.
Owners who bought a used vehicle, recently moved or changed registration details should not rely only on mail. A fresh VIN check is the quickest way to see whether the Jeep park outside recall is open for a specific Wrangler or Gladiator.
Honda is recalling 880,514 Pilot, Ridgeline, Passport and Acura MDX vehicles over a rear subframe corrosion risk. Owners should check their VIN and schedule a free dealer inspection if their vehicle is included.

Certain 2021–2025 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles are being recalled because power steering pump wiring may overheat and create a fire risk. Owners should check their VIN and park away from buildings or other vehicles until the recall repair is completed.
