Ballester Hermanos recalled limited 5.99-ounce Pearl Milling Company pancake and waffle mix pouches sold in Puerto Rico because milk and soy were not properly declared. Consumers should check the affected lot codes and return recalled pouches to the place of purchase.

Ballester Hermanos is recalling a limited number of Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffles Complete pouches sold in Puerto Rico because milk and soy were not properly declared on the label. Consumers who have the affected pouches should not eat the mix and should return it to the original place of purchase, according to the FDA-posted company announcement.
The recall covers Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffles Complete, also identified on the notice as Mezcla Para Panqueques y Waffles Complete.
The affected product is a red 5.99-ounce pouch, or 170 grams. The FDA-posted notice said consumers may have purchased the mix starting in January 2026 and that the product was sold in different retail stores in Puerto Rico.
The notice did not list a UPC or name specific retailers. The safest check is the product name, package size, lot code and expiration or use-by date printed on the pouch.
Consumers should match both the lot code and the date because the recall notice lists some lot codes alongside specific expiration dates.
The FDA-posted notice said the lot and date information can be found on the back or front of the pouch.
The recall was issued because the label said the product “may contain milk and soy” instead of “contains milk and soy,” according to the company announcement posted by the FDA.
That distinction matters for people with a milk or soy allergy or severe sensitivity. The company said those consumers could face a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat the recalled product.
No illnesses related to the recalled product had been reported in the market as of the company announcement.
Consumers should check their pantries for the affected 5.99-ounce pouches. If the product details match the recall notice, Ballester Hermanos said consumers should refrain from consuming it and return it to the original place of purchase.
For more information, consumers can contact Ballester Hermanos customer service at 787-788-4110 and request the Quality Control department. The company also listed recall@bhipr.com for recall questions.
Federal food-safety guidance says recall details are specific, so the product information on the package should match the recall notice. For foods recalled because of an undeclared allergen, FoodSafety.gov says consumers may return the product for a refund or dispose of it as directed, and surfaces that contacted the food should be washed if it was served.
The FDA-posted announcement did not identify specific store chains, list a UPC or say the recall applies outside Puerto Rico.
The recall notice identifies the affected product by package size, lot codes and expiration or use-by dates. Consumers whose pouches do not clearly match the recalled lots can contact Ballester Hermanos before using the product, especially if anyone in the household has a milk or soy allergy.
This page should be refreshed if the FDA or Ballester Hermanos adds retailer names, UPC information, more lot codes, recall classification details or new illness reports.
